CDP
1

What is the Carbon Data Platform?

Carbon Data Platform (CDP) is a digital solution developed to help Public Listed Companies track, analyse, and report their carbon emissions, particularly Scope 2 emissions from electricity consumption. The platform leverages validated electricity usage data from TNB and converts it into standardized carbon emissions reports. The platform provides a centralized, reliable, and automated approach to carbon data management, replacing manual data consolidation and calculations.

2

Why do I need Carbon Data Platform?

Carbon Data Platform (CDP) helps your organization to track and manage carbon emissions systematically, support ESG disclosures and sustainability reporting, and identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and emissions. This platform simplifies what would otherwise be a manual, fragmented, and error-prone process.

3

What type of reports can I generate?

You can generate Carbon emissions reports (Scope 2) yearly.

CDP
4

How much historical data is available?

Typically, the platform provides up to 2 years of historical data and current year ongoing data.

5

How is this service different from the existing myTNBiz platform?

Carbon Data Platform (CDP) is designed to translate 3 years of electricity consumption into carbon emissions (Scope 2). The platform provides analytics, trends, and downloadable reports aligned with Security Commission requirements, whereas myTNBiz primarily provides electricity consumption (up to 6 months) and billing.

6

Can't I just use my myTNBiz electricity bill for reporting?

While myTNBiz provides consumption data, it is not consolidated across multiple accounts/premises to support carbon emissions calculations. It also lacks the historical analytics and reporting formats required for ESG disclosures. Carbon Data Platform (CDP) enhances this by converting consumption into standardized, report-ready carbon data.

CDP
7

Do customers have the ability to change the emission factor if needed?

No. Carbon Data Platform refers to the emissions factor published by Suruhanjaya Tenaga to calculate the location-based emissions for customers.

8

If a customer subscribes in August 2026, can they see data in 2027?

The subscription runs for 12 months from the date of payment until the last day of the subscription period. For example, customers who make payment in August 2026 will be able to access the platform until July 2027, and by the final month of the period, they would see data up to July 2027.

CDP
9

Who can access this platform?

Access is restricted to authorized users nominated by your company and designated TNBX system administrators (for system support purposes only). All access is governed by strict data privacy and security protocols.

10

Is there a trial experience available before subscribing?

Yes, a trial experience is offered to allow your company to explore the platform's capabilities and assess its value before committing to a subscription.

11

What features are included in the platform trial?

The trial typically includes access to the platform with limited access to Customer Accounts (CAs), the ability to view consumption and emissions trends, and restricted report generation features. Full functionality may be unlocked upon subscription.

CDP
12

How long is the trial period?

The trial period depends on the onboarding arrangement.

13

Will my actual company data be used during the trial?

Yes, the trial will use your actual validated Customer Account (CA) data to provide meaningful insights.

14

Can I upgrade to a full subscription during the trial?

Yes, you may convert to a full subscription at any time during the trial, with access to full features activated upon successful payment.

CDP
15

Who should I contact during the trial for support or questions?

You may reach out to your TNB Account Manager or the TNBX Support Team for any assistance, clarifications, or onboarding support.

16

Does the platform support role-based access control?

Not currently. The platform follows a one-customer, one-account, one-active-user model. This is due to security requirements.

CDP
17

How much does it cost to upgrade to a full subscription?

The cost to upgrade depends on the number of Customer Accounts (CAs) onboarded.

18

How is the calculation for the add-on account charges?

For example, under the Essential package (36 months) for a customer with 60 accounts: 50 accounts are charged at RM14,400 total, and the 10 additional accounts are charged at RM10 per account per month across 36 months, totaling RM3,600. The gross total for this customer would be RM18,000. The Sustain+ and Net Zero packages apply the same formula.

19

Is platform access limited to one year?

Yes. Each subscription period lasts one (1) year. Customers must renew before the active period ends to maintain access to the platform.

CDP
20

Will the trial usage be charged when I upgrade?

No, the trial experience is non-chargeable. Charges will only apply once you formally subscribe to the full service.

21

Is there a minimum subscription period?

Yes, the platform is typically offered on a minimum one-year subscription basis to ensure continuity in data tracking and reporting.

22

How is billing handled for the subscription?

Billing is typically annual (upfront), based on quotation and agreement.

CDP
23

What happens if I do not upgrade after the trial?

No charges will be incurred. Your access to the platform will be discontinued after the agreed trial period.

24

If the subsidiary is viewed separately, would it be charged under a different package from the parent company?

CDP charges the parent company and subsidiary as separate customers. A parent company may onboard itself, its subsidiaries, or both, while a subsidiary may also onboard independently but cannot view the parent company's dashboard.

25

Can customers upgrade or downgrade their subscription package?

Yes. At the end of the subscription period, customers may keep their current package or choose to upgrade or downgrade.

CDP
26

Can Sabah and Sarawak branch accounts be included in the platform?

No. Currently the platform only includes accounts based in Peninsular Malaysia. Accounts in Sabah and Sarawak branches may be considered for inclusion once the platform is able to scale.

27

If an account belongs to the company but is not registered under the company's name, will access to that account be restricted?

Yes. During onboarding, customers may only register under their own company name. For separate entities, consent from the relevant dealer or third party is required.

28

Can accounts be added or removed during an active subscription period?

Not yet. This feature is not available during the MVP phase. It will be introduced as the platform scales up.

CDP
29

Is my company's account and billing data credible and verified?

Yes. All data is sourced directly from TNB's validated billing systems, ensuring high accuracy and reliability, alignment with actual billed consumption, and credibility for audit and reporting purposes.

30

Is the data usage compliant with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)?

Yes. The platform complies with applicable PDPA and data protection regulations, ensuring data is used strictly for authorized purposes, with proper consent and governance mechanisms in place and secure handling and storage of all customer data. All processing and storage activities adhere to TNB's internal data governance policies and the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2010.

31

Will my data be shared with third parties?

No, your data will not be shared with third parties without your consent, unless required by law or regulatory authorities.

CDP
32

If a customer changes their myTNBiz profile, does it affect their CDP profile too?

No. Carbon Data Platform and myTNBiz are separate platforms with separate data maintenance.

33

Will the platform's consumption data follow the actual meter readings?

Yes. The platform will disclose the same number as reflected in the TNB bills.

34

Does the platform display kWh data only, or are kW and kVA also available?

Currently, only kWh data is available.
